2nd Call to Action: Nuclear Medicine Reimbursement

October 6, 2015

SNMMI Members,

You still have time to email your members of Congress. Please urge them to sign the Congressional letters circulating in the House and the Senate regarding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital 2016 proposed rule for the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) no later than Wednesday, October 7. We need to act quickly to make a strong impact in favor of change.

Contact your Members of Congress by October 7, 2015.

Please contact your Representative and Senators from your state and urge them to sign the Congressional letters being circulated. SNMMI has provided a sample email for your convenience. When contacting your member of Congress, please tell them to contact the following Congressional staff:

Senate Staffers:
Sarah Johnson - Senator Portman (R-OH)
Katie Campbell - Senator Donnelly (D-IN)

Representative Staffers:
Helen Dwight - Representative Brooks (R-IN)
Andy Flick - Representative Moulton (D-MA)

If you do not know your Congressional representatives, visit the House website and Senate website for listings.

As you may know, CMS has proposed changes to the nuclear medicine Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs) in its 2016 proposed rule that will exacerbate an already existing nuclear medicine reimbursement problem that is impacting patient access and innovation. We must urge CMS to withdraw the current proposed language and re-evaluate the proposal put forth by SNMMI.

We have leaders in both the Senate and House who are circulating letters. The Senate is circulating the Donnelly-Portman-Brown-Kirk Letter and the House is circulating the Moulton-Brooks Letter. Both letters urge CMS to withdraw the current proposed language and re-evaluate the proposal put forth by the SNMMI.

Please view our background document on the issue and SNMMI’s solution to the problem.
Feel free to share this document.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact SNMMI’s Health Policy and Regulatory Affairs department at hpra@snmmi.org.
