IDEAS Study Webinar Available for Replay

June 17, 2016

If you missed the IDEAS webinar, which took place on Tuesday, May 24, it is now available for replay. The IDEAS Study follows more than 18,000 Medicare beneficiaries to determine the clinical value of a brain PET scan to detect the hallmark brain amyloid accumulation of Alzheimer’s disease in diagnosing and managing treatment of patients age 65 and older with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia of uncertain cause. Information from this scan can help exclude underlying Alzheimer’s disease and may help guide patient management.

In the webinar, Denise Merlino, CPC, CNMT, reviewed the Medicare billing guidance for the study, including the basics of the CPT and HCPCS codes as well as national payment rates based on the varying patient setting. She also reviewed the basic set up necessary to begin billing these studies as well as the patient copayment and cost obligations. The presentation also includes a discussion of how providers can work with their local Medicare Administrative Contractors or Medicare Advantage Plans to resolve any denials. Questions will be taken at the end of the presentation.
